Barefoot shoes from Vivobarefoot are a classic. The British company Terra Plana launched the first barefoot shoe on the market in 2004 and is now one of the best -known brands of sustainable barefoot shoes worldwide.

Vivobarefoot uses leather for some models, but over 70% of the collections are vegan. The “Eco Suede” material from recycled PET-Falschen, which looks like suede, is unique. Interior lining and sole are also made of recycled materials and glue -base adhesive. Wildling is a young manufacturer of barefoot shoes. The German family company relies on sustainable barefoot shoes and won the NRW start -up award for creative and successful business ideas in 2018.

 Materials

Wildling barefoot shoes are made of natural substances. Most shoes are made from GOTS-certified organic cotton from Turkey, other shoes are made of wool, bamboo, walnut shells, hemp, cork, recycled rubber and even paper. The waterproof barefoot shoes also have an upper material covered with GOTS-certified wax. In addition to cotton from Turkey, the other fabrics come from Portugal or Germany.

The German company produces in Portuguese manufacturers. All Wildling barefoot shoes are almost exclusively handmade and are produced under environmentally friendly standards and fair working conditions.

 Materials

Senmotic barefoot shoes are unfortunately only made of real leather. The beef, pork and calf leather comes from a German company in Pirmasens (Rhineland-Palatinate) and has a mineral tanning. The soles consist of a thermoplastic plastic (TPU) and natural rubber. The plastic is recyclable and free of plasticizers. Senmotic barefoot shoes are 100% "made in Germany" - all materials come from Germany. Vegan models are still in vain (?).

Senmotic produces his barefoot shoes in a production facility in Weißenfels (near Leipzig). All shoes are handmade and are only made after receipt of the order. 12 employees produce the shoes in over 80% manual work.

ZAQQ is a renowned manufacturer of sustainable barefoot shoes. The German company was founded by two friends and only sells its biologically and ecologically recyclable barefoot shoes in Germany.

 Materials

While most ZAQQ barefoot shoes consist of German or Italian nature leather, there are some vegan models. In vegan footwear, ZAQQ relies on organic cotton, cork and pollutant-free microfiber (eco-tex 100 certified). The soles consist of flexible rubber. For example, the shoe zaqq prequel is made entirely of vegan tissue.

ZAQQ produces in a factory in Leipzig. The shoes are only made handmade within three days after receipt of the order. Almost every work step is handmade - from handcut to sewing and pouring and shaping.

 Models & prices

There are barefoot shoes from ZAQQ for women and men. There is a wide range of sneakers, winter shoes, outdoor shoes, running shoes, business shoes and sandals. The prices are between 130 and 190 euros.
